The 2015 Mustang GT350 is Here… Watch out Z/28 Camaro

Gone from the Mustang line-up is the GT500 and now taking its place is the track monster known as the GT350. This all new Ford Mustang, built on the 2015 “S550″ chassis, is an all motor pony with an emphasis on track day awesomeness. The outgoing GT500 model was a supercharged beast that’s more accustomed to the burnout box rather than apexes and hairpin turns. But now, gone is the supercharger for an all motor 5.2L flat-plane crankshaft V8 that Ford claims puts out more than 500 horsepower and 400 lb/ft of torque. For those not well versed in you’re crankshaft terminology the flat-plane crank ditches the conventional 90 degree interval for a 180 degree firing interval, resulting in a much more efficient breathing motor and a very unique sound that’s usually only heard form six-figure Italian exotics. Ford says this is the most powerful naturally aspirated engine they’ve ever produced. Can’t wait for that crate motor to be thrown in a replica shelby roadster…

gt350-mustang-2015Aside from power, this new pony is a well rounded machine with Ford’s new MagneRide suspension system, Ford’s first shot at a continuously controlled magnetorheological damping system which should shine out on the track. Combined with a wider front-track and 15.5 inch six piston Brembos up front with 15 inch 4 pistons in the back, this stallion is gunning to take down the Z/28 Camaro. Although the Camaro has more power, it will be interesting to say the least to see how these two pair up, head to head.
