#11 Subaru Legacy [8.3]

The 2011 Subaru Legacy was one of the first cars to go with the new, trendy Hyundai-esk redesign with the aggressive styling and a lot-for-your money interior standard offerings. One of the Subaru’s drawbacks, however, is the handling. The car feels downright turtle slow, with grungy handling rivaled by only the boring Corolla; a car in an entirely different class- and with good reason. Some positive attributes are the engine power, the seat comfort, and the driving position, in addition the the standard amenities and the aggressive pricing model.

#12 Suzuki Kizashi [8.3]

The Kizashi is a newcomer in the mainstream Mid sized car battle, and it comes with a solid punch. The car packs features such as rear view camera, backup assist, and heated / cooled memory seats, options generally found in much more expensive cars such as the Acura TSX or lexus IS 250. But these amenities do not come cheap, the Kizashi with a decent amount of options can run you closer to $30,000, money that can buy you a much better, more refined and reliable vehicle. The exterior styling is also somewhat dated, hence the placement on the US NEWS Car rankings for 2012.

#13 Toyota Camry Hybrid [8.3]

Arguably one of the most disappointing Toyota Vehicles to come out in a long time, the Hybrid version of Americas favorite midsized sedan is definately not worth the price tag, and the Camry XLE comes with a much better set of luxury features such as memory seats, blind spot monitoring, and a nice plush interior. The Hybrid is however, very quiet, and the city mileage is comfortably in the 30+ range. For a hybrid however, this isn’t impressive and the added cost is not worth the sacrifices.

#14 2012 Toyota Camry [8.2]

The king of the affordable midsized sedans came in at an astonishing 14th place, way out of its number 1 spot comfort zone the Camry has become so used to seeing. The new 2012 Camry brings and entirely new redesign for both the interior and the exterior of the car, adding features such as push start standard, Toyota’s new navigation system that can understand your voice commands, and many new features. The cars style is arguably very bland however, and people may not buy as many of these cars as was sold historically.

#15 Kia Optima [8.1]

Kia has been trying very hard to do what Hyundai has been doing so well, as in changing the brand into a more mainstream and upscale– and desirable brand that it has developed a name for itself in. Toyota did this back when they released the first Lexus LS, and Kia and Hyundai have joined in the club. Other brands such as Suzuki and Mazda are right behind them, but Hyundai has so far taken the lead in this exciting and new growing trend.

#16 Nissan Altima Hybrid [7.6]

The lowest rated hybrid in the class, the Altima lags in many features such as the all important MPG, the drivetrain, the handling, the styling, interior features, price point and many other important factors that Nissan has got right before. There is a refresh in store for either 2012 or 2013, expect to see a change in rankings if they can address these pressing issues.

#17 2012 Chrystler 200 [7.6]

Not much to say about this car other than it is very mediocre excelling in nothing than perhaps it’s exterior styling. The car is falling behind the competition, despite efforts by Chrysler’s new ownership to change the brand.

#18 Mitsubishi Galant [7.4]

2011 Mitsubishi Galant

Unaggresive pricing, ancient styling, ancient interior and very unimpressive performance, the Mitsubishi Galant is chosen by very few people.

#19 2012 Dodge Avenger [6.8]

2008 Dodge Avenger R/T

2008 Dodge Avenger R/T

Given a 6.8 by the US News Car Rankings Report is very generous. This car is unimpressive at best. The cabin is one of the most noisy rides we’ve ever experienced, the car is not smooth, and at highway speeds the car veers from the wind, possibly due to the high back of the car. Interior room is tight and materials are very cheap.
